Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile application Stroke Risk & Prevention (hereinafter "the Application"), developed and maintained by Dr. Cherif Heroum. The Application is available on the Google Play Store and is designed as an educational and informational tool to help users assess and understand their individual risk factors for stroke (cerebrovascular accident / AVC).

This policy explains what information may be collected when you use the Application, how it is used, and the rights you have regarding your personal data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / RGPD) and applicable French and European Union laws.

2. Data Collected

2.1 Data Entered by the User (local only)

To calculate stroke risk scores, the Application may ask you to voluntarily enter certain health information, including:

• Age and sex
• History of high blood pressure (hypertension)
• History of atrial fibrillation (AF)
• History of diabetes mellitus
• History of prior stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA)
• History of heart failure or coronary artery disease
• Smoking status
• Anticoagulation or antiplatelet therapy status

This data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted, stored, or sent to any external server, cloud, or third party.

2.2 Technical & Diagnostic Data (anonymous)

The Application may use standard Android diagnostic services (Google Play Services / Firebase Crashlytics) to collect anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. This data contains no personal health information and cannot be linked to any individual user. It is used solely to improve application stability and performance.

2.3 Data Not Collected

The Application does not collect:

• Name, email address, or contact information
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Device identifiers beyond standard Android analytics
• Financial or payment information
• Photos, camera, or microphone data
• Contacts or calendar data

3. Use of Data

Health data entered within the Application is used exclusively to:

• Calculate validated stroke risk scores (e.g., CHA₂DS₂-VASc, HAS-BLED)
• Display educational information about stroke risk factors
• Provide personalized prevention recommendations within the Application

This information is processed in real time on the device and is discarded when the session ends, unless the user explicitly saves results in local device storage.

4. No Sharing or Sale of Data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your personal data to any third party, including advertisers, data brokers, or research institutions.

No health information entered into the Application is transmitted over the internet. There are no in-app purchases, no advertising SDKs, and no data monetization of any kind.

Anonymous crash and analytics data collected by Google Play Services is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Security

Because no personal health data leaves your device, the primary security perimeter is your own device. We recommend:

• Using a screen lock (PIN, password, fingerprint) on your device
• Keeping your Android operating system and the Application up to date
• Downloading the Application only from the official Google Play Store

Any locally stored results are protected by Android's standard application sandbox. The Application does not use external databases or cloud storage for health data.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679), you have the following rights:

• Right of access: You may request information about any personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: You may request correction of inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): You may request deletion of your data.
• Right to restriction of processing: You may request that we limit the processing of your data.
• Right to data portability: You may request a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Right to object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Since the Application does not store any personal health data on external servers, most of these rights can be exercised directly on your device by clearing the Application's local data via your Android settings. For any other requests, please contact us at the address below.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL), the French supervisory authority for data protection.

7. Children's Privacy

The Stroke Risk & Prevention application is designed for adult users (18 years and older). It is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Application, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate action.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in the Application's functionality, applicable law, or best practices. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. We encourage you to review this policy whenever you use the Application.

Continued use of the Application after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
